The pre-Microsoft Ignite 2019 blogpost about Information Protection - Part 2
Welcome to part 2 of my pre-Ignite 2019 blog posts. Here I continue my recommendations for Ignite 2019 for those of you who want to learn more about Information Protection.

On a personal note, since I got some feedback on this: Yes, I will attend other sessions as well, and not just walk around doing nothing when there are no sessions about Information Protection. :D
The first two days should have given you lot's of new info, but things doesn't stop here. Wednesday brings new great sessions that should give us plenty of information.
After a hearty breakfast, I will be ready to dive into a 45 minute breakout session on Protecting sensitive information in Office apps and Office 365 services: A deeper look at the latest enhancements with Mike Paer and Tony Themelis from Microsoft. (BRK3101 - 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM)
Not Information Protection related, but since I also work a lot with ATP, I have added the SECI30 - Tips, tricks, and best practices from the experts for deploying Microsoft 365 Threat Protection (11:30 AM - 12:15 PM) to my schedule.
At 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM there is a lab where the RSVP opens on 22nd of October. The WRK3010R - Deploying Microsoft Information Protection technologies to protect sensitive data: Azure Information Protection (AIP) (Repeat) might be extremely interesting if you get a seat. This will also be run Thursday at 9:00 AM.
If you don't get a seat at the labs, or want to attend something else, we have the BRK2120 - Got Azure Information Protection? Navigating unified labeling, policy configuration, clients, and analytics session. (12:45 PM - 1:30 PM)
SECI40 - Accelerating deployment of Microsoft Information Protection solutions (2:00 PM - 2:45 PM) focuses on key Microsoft Information Protection solutions including Azure Information Protection, Office 365 Information Protection solutions (e.g. Office 365 DLP) and other related technologies.
Now we have come to the last full day of Ignite. Many of you are probably going home Friday, and I think it is important to remember to have some fun between and after sessions. I never get tired of getting some t-shirts etc. from different stands, and hopefully I've met some old friends around. Thursday is also a day when many of you are going to Microsoft Ignite Attendee Celebration at Universal Orlando Resort, so that should be pretty great. (Harry Potter fan here!) I believe both Universal Resort theme parks has been reserved by Microsoft, so don't miss this.
AT 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM, you will have another shot at WRK3010R2 - Deploying Microsoft Information Protection technologies to protect sensitive data: Azure Information Protection (AIP) (Repeat) and as mentioned over, the RSVP isn't open at the time I write this blog post. Like the other one(s), it will open on the 22nd. October.
At 10:55 AM - 11:55 AM comes a session I am very curious about. THR2100 - Extending data classification, labeling, and protection to SharePoint Online to better secure your sensitive data. As this is something we run into a lot, I look forward to seeing what is new here.
If you want to gain an understanding of what kind of sensitive information exists across your environment, where is resides, what it contains, and what is happening to it, I suggest BRK3100 - What does your sensitive data landscape look like? Best practices in data discovery, classification, analytics and reports (12:45 PM - 1:30 PM).
At 1:50 PM - 2:10 PM Microsoft tells us how we can protect data in Teams. THR1073 - Protect your data in Microsoft Teams includes data loss prevention, information barriers and more.
That means you will have to choose between the Teams session and BRK3102 - Using data loss prevention policies in Microsoft 365 to prevent oversharing of sensitive information across apps, devices and services (2:00 PM - 2:45 PM) This session shows us the latest new capabilities and enhancements that will help us detect sensitive information and block or prevent inappropriate sharing or sending of important data - both inside and outside of the organization.
Ah … the last day of Ignite. A week of learning and hopefully some fun is nearing an end, and besides packing our stuff, we still want to get the most of our last day. Well fear not, Friday has some great sessions as well. When it comes to Information Protection the sessions are all pretty much at the same time, unfortunately, and you will have to choose between the following promising sessions.
Enrique Saggese is holding a 20 minute theater session on How customers are implementing Microsoft Information Protection solutions to secure their important data. (THR2101 10:10 AM - 10:30 AM)
At the same time you can attend the breakout session BRK2121 - Extend the power of sensitivity labeling and protection to your own apps and ISV solutions with the Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) SDK 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM.
And, also at the same time: BRK3007 - Securing your SharePoint and OneDrive content with access policies and labels. We should learn about MIP labels and access polices for SharePoint and OneDrive in Microsoft 365. (10:15 AM - 11:00 AM)
And of course there are many great sessions during this week. My suggestions are just a small selection of many interesting sessions, workshops and more. I still hope they will help you with learning some new and intersting Information Protection stuff that will be useful in your future projects.
And hopefully you will have some fun too. Ignite is very useful, but also a social gathering. After all, if not, why would we travel from all over the world to attend.
